The Makings of a City History Conference 2012

Penrith City Council & Library held its 11th Makings of a City History Conference on Saturday 10 March 2012 in the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Richard Bonynge Concert Hall, High Street Penrith.

  • Keynote speaker: Dr Ian Jack – Venturing into Evan
  • Peter Finlay – speaking on the 100th anniversary (in 1911) of the first aeroplane flights in the Penrith area by Leslie Jones and Billy Hart.
  • Historian, Dr Grace Karskens – People and Country at early Castlereagh – speaking on the early history of Castlereagh from its geology to Aboriginal and European settlement
  • Ross Brownscombe – Treading The Margins of The World – speaking on the early explorers of the Blue Mountains.
  • Lorraine Stacker – Update on the History of Penrith project Volume 2.
