Designer Dianne Hoath painted the design in colour directly onto the stretched canvas for work to begin. The embroiderers, under the guidance of Mistress of Embroidery Barbara Curran, created a three panel embroidery to showcase the local flora and fauna to be found in the Penrith area.
This panel features the Waratah, Blue Tongued Lizard, Azure Kingfisher, Swamp Hen and the Superb Blue Wren.
This panel features Kookaburras, Rosellas, Banksia, Brushtail Possum and Grey Gums.
This panel features the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Christmas Bells, Bottlebrush and the Eastern Pygmy Possum.
Mavis Reynolds, Director of the Creative Embroiderers of the Penrith Valley describes the design and creation process.
