Ron Mulock AO was Mayor of Penrith 1968-1971 and alderman from 1966 to 1971. He was a Labor Member of the NSW Parliament from 1971 to 1988. He is the only Minister since Federation to have consecutively held the major portfolios of Education, Health and Transport. Mulock served as Deputy Premier under Neville Wran and Barrie Unsworth from 1984 to 1988.
An important theme of the biography is Mulock’s campaign for recognition and resourcing for the booming Western Sydney region. Mulock’s reminiscences are candid, insightful and readable.
Co-authors of Mulock’s biography is Dr David Clune OAM and John Upton. David was the NSW Parliament’s Historian and is currently an Honorary Associate in the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney. He has written extensively about NSW politics and history.
John Upton is a prize-winning author. His political comedy, Machiavelli won the Australian Writer’s Guild award for Best New Play, and his book of poems published last year, Embracing The Razor, was short-listed for the Anne Elder Award.
